Skincare favorites (aka: self-confidence savers)...
Skinfood Rice Mask Wash Off: I jumped on the Korean skincare bandwagon a little over a year ago and started off with this gentle exfoliating mask. It took a couple of tries to figure out how to use it just right (a few minutes of gentle scrubbing until the granules start to break down), but it's become a staple in my nightly face-washing ritual because it's gentle, effective, natural and cheap!
ExfoliKate from Kate Somerville: I got this as a sample from Neiman Marcus and was hooked right away! I'm a sucker for products that make my skin look better immediately and this did just that. I only use it 2 or 3 times a week because it's pretty intense and can sting if you leave it on for too long, but hot damn if it doesn't help clear up my skin almost overnight.
Boscia Luminizing Black Mask: This is fun because it's kind of like peeling off a layer to a new face (sounds kind of gross, but it's not). Be careful not to get it on your eyebrows or hairline because it pulls everything out, trust me. Perfect for getting junk out of your pores and tightening up your skin!
La Roche Posay Effaclar K: A mix of salicylic acid and retinol that doesn't turn your face into a red, flaky mess. Unfortunately I think La Roche Posay is switching up the formula for the Effaclar K so it's not as easy to find at the Duo (which has benzoyl peroxide instead of salicylic acid) but it's worth the hunt!
Joanna Vargas Daily Serum: To prep for my wedding in May, I decided to treat myself to a facial at the Joanna Vargas salon in New York. After some serious pampering and a good dose of oxygen (they literally spray it into your pores - it's amazing), the aesthetician suggested I use Joanna's Daily Serum. Even though it was a bit of gut check shelling out the extra cash, it was SO worth it. Not only does it smell great, but it clears up my pores and brightens my skin in a snap.
(and PS - if you have a few extra bucks to spend, I totally recommend treating yourself to the Oxygen Purifying Facial at Joanna Vargas!)
